Four decades of passion, craft and community — right in the heart of Caterham.
For over 40 years, Touché Hairdressing has been a proud cornerstone of the Caterham community.
We first opened our doors here in the vibrant mid-80s — an era defined by bold volume, defining perms, and fearless style. Since then, we've styled our way through every major era of hair fashion: the sleek, minimalist bobs of the '90s, the textured layers of the early 2000s, the balayage revolution of the 2010s, right up to the highly expressive, individualised looks of today.
Through four decades of ever-changing trends, our core commitment has remained constant: delivering exceptional hairdressing. Over these years, we've had the privilege of building deep, lasting relationships, styling generation after generation of families right here in Caterham and the surrounding areas.
We believe that true expertise comes from blending years of experience with a passion for continuous innovation. Our team regularly attends premier industry training, ensuring that whether you're looking for the very latest contemporary technique or flawless, timeless fundamentals, you are always in the best of hands.
"Hair is our passion — and every client who sits in our chair deserves to leave feeling their absolute best."
The Touché Team
From crimped hair and power perms to the Butterfly Cut — we've been there through every era.
We opened our doors in the mid-80s — an era of bold volume and fearless style. Teased hair was at its peak, crimping irons were essential, and scrunchies, oversized bows and sweatbands completed every look.
A split era between high glamour and anti-fashion: voluminous, flawless supermodel blowouts contrasted heavily with the intentionally unkempt, "bedhead" aesthetic of the Seattle grunge movement.
Jennifer Aniston's choppy, face-framing layered cut on Friends became a global phenomenon. Fun accessories like butterfly clips, mini hair twists, and zig-zag hairbands were everywhere.
High-heat flat irons were essential for ultra-sleek, stick-straight styles. High-contrast chunky "skunk" highlights — often bright blonde on dark base hair — defined the early Y2K era.
Deep side parts and heavy, eye-grazing swept bangs dominated. Victoria Beckham's asymmetrical angled bob — the "Posh Bob" — became one of the most requested salon cuts of the decade.
The ombré trend — dark roots fading into lighter ends — was everywhere. For styling, the effortlessly messy, high-sitting top knot bun became the go-to casual look.
The "Lob" (long bob) became the universally flattering, effortlessly chic cut of choice. Distinct ombré evolved into balayage — a softer, hand-painted highlighting technique with a natural, sun-kissed finish.
A strong return to 70s-inspired aesthetics brought face-framing curtain bangs back into the mainstream. The "Wolf Cut" — a modern, choppy, textured hybrid of the shag and mullet — went viral.
Heavily layered, bouncy blowouts offer sweeping 90s-inspired volume. In contrast, sleek, polished "old money" bobs and slicked-back sculptural styles provide a minimalist, luxurious alternative — and we're proud to offer both.
